Target and coverages

The following parameters can be configured

  • Target: the minimum percentage of area coverage to be obtained to consider a coverage completed. Normally this should be 100% but is advisable to step down a bit (e.g. to 98%) to reduce significantly the time to obtain a satisfactory coverage. In other cases the scenario geometry might preclude a 100% target achievement, e.g. AOIs on the poles which are not fully reachable by a sensor. In that case it is recommended to reduce significantly the target figure. Default: 98%.
  • Max Coverages: It may be desirable to limit the number of coverages to be completed during the selected period. For example a given mission could require to cover a given Area of Interest twice a month. In this case you should configure Max Coverages = 2, Period = 30 days. Note that the Max Coverages is not a target, but a limit. The number of coverages is mostly constrained by the selected satellite, sensor and AOI geometry and simulation period. Default: 1
  • Period: The time period on which the Max Coverages is evaluated. Choose a large value to allow for coverages to be obtained. If the value is too small, e.g. 1 day, there is probably no time to complete a coverage and the constraint becomes non-actuated. Default: 30 days.
